SecureAI is an Android application designed to help users identify and mitigate digital security threats. Our goal is to empower users to take control of their privacy and device integrity without compromising their personal data.

This document outlines how each major functionality works, why it exists, and how it protects the user’s data through a privacy-by-design approach.

🔍 App Functionalities and Security Practices

1. Data Breach Check

• Purpose: To let users know if their email or credentials have been exposed in known data breaches.
• Why It’s Needed: Users often reuse passwords. Being notified of a breach allows timely action like password changes.
• How It Works Securely:
  • SecureAI sends only the email or username (entered by the user) to a third-party service (LeakCheck) over a secure HTTPS connection.
  • No data is stored, cached, or sent to our servers.
  • Users are informed only of the result; we do not log or track breach responses.

2. File Virus Scanning

• Purpose: To detect malicious files (viruses, trojans, spyware) before they harm the device.
• Why It’s Needed: Files shared via third-party apps or downloads may contain hidden threats.
• How It Works Securely:
  • The file is scanned using a reputable third-party malware scanning API.
  • Files Hashes are sent directly to the scanning provider, not to our servers.
  • We do not retain or store scanned file contents or results.

3. URL Phishing & Malware Detection

• Purpose: To detect and warn users of dangerous links that may lead to scams, phishing, or malware.
• Why It’s Needed: Malicious URLs are a common way attackers steal personal data or install harmful software.
• How It Works Securely:
  • URLs are scanned via trusted external services (IPQualityScore and Google Web Risk).
  • URLs are never stored or tracked by SecureAI.
  • The result is shown directly to the user, and no data is relayed to or stored on our servers.

4. Installed App Permissions Audit

• Purpose: To help users understand which installed apps have sensitive permissions (camera, contacts, location, etc.).
• Why It’s Needed: Many apps request more permissions than they need, risking privacy abuse.
• How It Works Securely:
  • SecureAI reads app permissions locally on the device using Android’s permission framework.
  • No app data, usage stats, or package details are ever uploaded or shared externally.
  • Analysis is done entirely offline, and the results are shown only to the user

5. Privacy Risk Audit (New Module)
Purpose: To analyze the permissions of installed apps and provide a clear risk score indicating how each app may impact user privacy.
Why It’s Needed: Users deserve transparency about which apps pose the greatest privacy risks.
How It Works Securely:

• Permissions data is analyzed entirely on the device without uploading to any server.
• The privacy risk assessment is presented locally, and no information is stored or shared externally.

6. WiFi Scanner 
Purpose: To scan and assess nearby WiFi networks for potential security vulnerabilities, such as open or weakly secured networks.
Why It’s Needed: Connecting to unsafe WiFi can expose devices to attackers.
How It Works Securely:

• SecureAI uses standard Android location permissions to scan WiFi networks.
• No WiFi scan data or location data is stored, uploaded, or sent to our servers.
• All analysis remains local to the user’s device
